For me, the most exciting stories have always been the ones that play like movies in your head. Off to Hollywood I went, to write motion pictures. Ideally ones with high stakes and buried treasures, mistaken identities and hidden agendas, maybe even daring escapes from exploding volcanos. But I quickly realized an unproduced screenplay is a movie with an audience of one and decided to bring stories to life in people’s minds the traditional way—without the aid of moving pictures.

IMG_0870Available now through Snowy Wings Publishing is Jasper Faulks and the Passage of Time, a Young Adult adventure novel full of mystery and time-bending action. I hope it will play in your head with the excitement of a James Bond caper, the whimsical nostalgia of Stranger Things, and the classic coming-of-age vibe of Stand By Me.

Coming out on September 17, my short story “The Grudge Match” will be part of the circus anthology Magic Under the Big Top, edited by Mary Fan and also published by Snowy Wings Publishing. Not being much of a circus aficionado myself, I focussed on something a little closer to my heart: catch-as-catch-can professional wrestling. As the blurb says, “Feel the thunderous applause as a pro wrestler fights to make his mark at a traveling show.”

Next on the agenda, a high concept sci-fi novel called Sky Skraper 1, a sequel to Jasper, and more short stories. Past exploits away from fiction writing include working as a home entertainment QA consultant for Twentieth Century Fox, MGM, and Paramount on some of the most successful movies and TV shows of all time, blogging for a major German news and entertainment website about my emigration experience, and writing a master’s thesis about neo-slave narratives.

After growing up in Germany, I’ve made the Golden State of California my home for the last couple of decades. I live with my wife, my son, and my hard of hearing Miniature Schnauzer on the Westside of Los Angeles and enjoy French wine, Italian food, Japanese electronics, German cars, and American movies like a real normie.
